RSGB Contest Results 144MHz May Contest 2017

Once again conditions for this contest were only average at best, although there were a number of contacts made via aurora and MS. There was a welcome increase of nearly 20% in the number of entries this year, possibly due to entrants wishing to contribute their scores to the new AFS section of the VHF Championship. As seems usual now for this contest a number of entrants were hampered by QRM from static rain.

In the Open section Reigate ATS and Crawley ARC move up from 2nd place last year to win the section with a much improved score. Colchester RA take 2nd place this year, up from 3rd last year.

In the Single operator Fixed Section, Roger G3MEH takes 1st place by a large margin. In second place is Roger M0OMB, an impressive result given that Roger used only 25W and a single yagi. Other certificate winners include Frank PE1EWR, the highest placed non UK entrant, and Dean, 2E0OLG the highest placed intermediate licensee.

In the SO Section the top two stations have managed to repeat their success from last year, with Mick M0ICK/P in1st place from Steve, G0EAK/P in 2ndboth having made considerably higher scores this year.

Graham, M0CGL takes first place in the 6 hour Fixed Station Section, from Tony G4NBS. Gordon, G3WJG is the highest placed station running 25w and a single yagi, Chris, 2E0XJP the highest placed intermediate licensee and Sue M6XAK the highest placed Foundation Licensee.

Chris G4FZN and Pauline G8HQW operating G4FZN/P are 1st in the 6 hours Others section with the highest score outside the Open Section, an impressive achievement in only 6 hours of operating. Bob G0KYS is in second place operating M9T. Steven 2W0JYN receives the certificate for the highest placed Intermediate Licensee.
